Mini-March in Marine Park to Save Children's A&E
On Saturday October 7, around 100 mums, dads, grandparents and their children took part in a mini-march around South Shields Marine Park to save the consultant-led children's A&E from being downgraded from 24/7 to 12 hours. This march was organised by the Children's A&E...It's not a DONE DEAL! mums, who rely on the unit's vital consultant-led paediatric nurse practitioner services. Taking part as well and giving their full support were the Save South Tyneside Hospital Campaign organisers and and activists. Thanking everyone, Sonia Morton one of the mums who had organised the event said:
"it's still not a done deal and thank you to all who take the time to support our local children's A&E and we will soldier on"
Indeed, the fight goes on against the government-led NHS England commissioning agenda to downgrade the children's A&E to a less safe and less sustainable service. As was pointed out, the people of South Tyneside have a right to the safest consultant-led paediatric nurse practitioner services at their hospital, especially when they are accessed by so many children at all times of the day and night.
